Unpaid leave

If you take unpaid leave, you may in some cases temporarily stop accruing pension or accrue less pension. You remain in the service of your employer, and your pension fund contributions will continue.

What do you have to do?

  • Ask your employer what arrangements apply during unpaid leave.
  • Your employer informs the pension fund. You don't have to contact us yourself.

What else do you need to know?

  • Unpaid leave includes sabbatical leave, study leave and care leave. Your pension accrual will be temporarily discontinued.
  • You will remain insured for partner's pension for a maximum of 18 months during unpaid leave.
  • Maternity leave, parental leave and additional birth leave are other forms of leave. Your pension accrual continues as usual.
  • If you take life-course leave, your pension accrual will continue for a single period of up to 3 months. During your life-course leave, you remain insured for the partner's pension for a maximum period of 18 months. The orphan's pension is not insured during life-course leave.
