Why are there new pension rules?

There is a new pensions act: ’Wet toekomst pensioenen’
There is a new law: the Future Pensions Act (Dutch: Wet toekomst pensioenen). This law is necessary because society is changing. We are living longer, there are more retirees relative to the number of employed people, and we are changing jobs more frequently or working more often on a self-employed basis. For this reason, the government has amended the pension rules so that all pension schemes are better aligned with the current times and the system continues to function well for young and old in the future.
